Nobody wants to pay full price for their hotel room. When we go on vacation, most of us spend very little time in the room itself. For that reason, it makes a lot of sense to try to spend as little as possible on your lodging. There are always exceptions, but if you are looking for just a place to lay your head, here are some tips to help you spend as little as possible.
1. If you are looking to book well in advance, search for deals directly online. Visit the hotel website and you’ll find lower rates, sometimes up to 20% off than calling the hotel to book directly over the phone.
2. Engage in frequent user reward programs. Many hotel and motel chains offer loyalty programs to help entice you to return to their brand. The reward programs allow you to earn points toward free nights or discounted stays.
3. Hold off on booking. If you try to seek out a deal too early, you may end up paying more. By waiting to the day of arrival, the hotel knows it’s occupancy and may be willing to offer a better deal.
4. If you are able to book a bundle package, it will end up saving you money. Booking a flight, hotel and car together will be less than booking them separately.
Spending a few minutes searching and/or calling will be worth the time when you are able to snag a deal.
