I just love gooey brownies fresh out of the oven. There’s really nothing like the rich, fudgy decadance of a homemade brownie. And this recipe is super simple  for any baking skill level.

What’s Needed To Make Peanut Butter Chocolate Brownies

Besides your oven, the tools you will need are:

Ingredients for Peanut Butter Chocolate Brownies

Chocolate Layer:

½ cup unsalted butter, melted

1 cup granulated sugar

2 eggs

1½ tsp vanilla extract

½ cup all-purpose flour

½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1/8 tsp salt

Peanut Butter Layer:

1/3 cup creamy peanut butter

2 tspn unsalted butter, melted

1/3 cup granulated sugar

¼ cup packed brown sugar

1  egg

½ tsp. vanilla extract

½ cup all-purpose flour

1 tsp. baking powder

1/8 tsp. salt

Can you use salted butter instead of unsalted butter? Well, you could but here’s what the butter experts at Land O Lakes have to say:

“Unsalted butter gives you complete control of the overall flavor of your recipe. This is especially important in certain baked goods where the pure, sweet cream flavor of butter is key. As it pertains to cooking, unsalted butter lets the real, natural flavor of your foods come through.”

Preheat oven to 350°F. Line an 8” x 8” square baking pan with parchment paper and spray with non-stick cooking spray.

Mix the unsalted butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla for the chocolate layer in a large mixing bowl. Then add in the flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Lightly fold in the flour and cocoa powder until just mixed. **Do not over mix or the brownies will turn out cake-like**

Ingredients for chocolate layer

Mix the ingredients for the peanut butter brownie layer, again saving the flour, baking powder and salt for last, and then stirring until just mixed.

Peanut butter layer

Spread peanut butter brownie layer on the bottom of the pan and top it with the chocolate brownie layer, spreading the batter for both layers out evenly.

Trim the excess parchment paper, if necessary. Make sure to leave enough to easily lift the brownies out of the pan after they are baked.

Bake for 22 minutes. Brownies will still be soft and gooey, but will finish setting while they cool.
